1976 Black Label, Indianapolis Pressing Vinyl release of The Best Of The Guess Who
under the leadership of songwriters Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman and recorded many hit singles,
including "No Time", "American Woman", "Laughing", "These Eyes", "Undun"
and "Share the Land".
This is a performance of an elegant song from a more civilized age. You went out and bought albums or listened to songs on the radio back then but, bands didn't really share the full vision of their music until you caught them performing live. This performance simply takes the album cut, straps a booster engine on it...and launches it into the deep unknown never heard before or since.
Back when hair was hair, thin vibrato was thin vibrato, kimonos were kimonos, black silky dresses were black silky dresses...and the lurchy drummer (who could play!) only got one closeup.
Listening to this once more as thoughts unfold. I am Rhiannon was here. At the time they performed here, I looked exactly like her. Same hair but mine is red. I identify with the real Rhiannon in every way and detail. This has carried me through every experience in my life. Life Change right at this point and time in my life. Profound time in my life. Silent no more. I find comfort with this song every time I seek out this song and group, all the time. I find s deep inner strength within me. I will rise up like a Phoenix.
