THe difference with the show and the later show that come two years after solid gold was axed. Top of the pops USA was the latter was designed to be more of a music show.the UK version of the show the USA version was based on. Did just introduce the music acts. They did the chart countdown with out dancers when they did have dancers they just have them dancing to the pop song in the charts and none of the stupid things like comedy sketches.
