I have the Aqara motion sensor on the inside of my mail slot. It has two shutters, one on the outside of the door and one on the inside. It gives a great warning on the app when the postman comes by and deposits our mail. I have a camera pointing at the door so I can even see what is on my doormat.
Adam, I really like these videos that show the ideas but you blow through them pretty quickly and don't show how the results are obtained, like the blinking light scenes for alarms. It would be nice if you spent a little time walking us through the setup. I am looking forward to more contact like this video.
I am using an Aqara contact sensor on our mailbox to let me know whenever anyone opens the mailbox. This alerts me to when I have mail or if someone is messing my my mailbox at night.
I have an Aqara contact sensor on my closet doors and when the door opens, I have the Lutron Caseta switch turn the lights on. When the door closes, I have the lights turn off.
I have an Aqara contact sensor on our master bathroom shower door. Whenever my wife uses the shower in the morning, the ConnectSence in-wall plug turns on the outlet that her hair curlers are plugged into. After 15 minutes, the plug turns off. Her hair curlers do not have an on/off switch so this is quite handy in that she doesn't have to remember to plug them in and then unplug them each day.
I have Aqara motion sensors in several rooms of the house and whenever it detects motion, but only during the day, it will turn that rooms light on. After 15 minutes, it will turn the lights for that room off.
I have Aqara water leak detectors under my Utility Sink, Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Refrigerator, HVAC Air Handler, and Hot Water Heater. I also have an Eve Water sensor under the Hot Water Heater as backup.
I would really like to make my clothes washer and dryer, as well as my dishwasher, smart in HomeKit with timers and be able to see how much estimated time is left. I am exploring several possibilities.
