Great job - really well done village and video. Chosen as one of the "Village Videos of the Week." Congratulations! I can't believe it - the skating pond in this video is still working and it is so quiet. I have had noisy ones over the years. I bought this one back around 2008 and it is still going strong. I can't believe it - one Dept 56 skating pond I own many years ago only lasted 2 Christmas Season.
Your Village inspires me to set up ours this years again ! it is BEAUTIFUL and very realistic.I have used Epsom salt to create the effect of snow, super fine white glitter for the roofs and silver super fine glitter for accents.I have startet with the Dickens Village and then startet Christmas in the City, both Dept.56.They all so beautiful and I couldn't decide so I combined both. From Christmas in the city gradually to the Dickens Village. One of my prized pieces is my Fountain with running water.Have a Look,I have 3 videos here on Utube :-) noy as big as yours....yet :-) Merry Christmas !
Your village is gorgeous! We are in the process of expanding ours and will be extremely pleased with ourselves if we get even close to this level. Thanks for the tip on the pickling salt also. When we were watching the video my husband commented on how realistic yours looks, then I read your description of how you did it.
Nice back drop. The shebang is nice and well done. If I was to critique I would say it needs more lighting. But in all honesty I have that problem in my village also. Great Job! Very detailed and great camera work. Thanks for sharing. Check out my Snow village Linsterville .
Very nicely done, I really like all the details you have in your village. I know all the work you put in to make such a lovely village. I have also posted a few clips of our 2013 villiage which was featured on our local moring news. You can catch a clip at the following link if you like. www.wdrb.com/story/24069965/smithers-family-devotes-home-to-christmas-decorations-and-hoiday-village

I started collecting in 1995 and I think I have around 100 buidings now. I have other displays throughout the house as well. Ramfords Palace plus 2 country farm house scenes. Yes pickling salt works like a charm and just keep it year after year. Of course it will evaporate when there is lots of humidity in the air. And another tip, put hills in your display. A flat village display looks one dimensional. Once the village is up - WOW! I say to myself - "I can't beleive I constructed that!"
